Clinical Simulation of Airway Obstruction Leading to Altered Respiratory Waveforms
Objective By carrying out clinical simulation on altered respiratory waveforms caused by airway obstruction,to establish the relationship between airway obstruction and the degree of altered respiratory waveforms, and verify the feasibility of real-time visual monitoring of airways. Methods A respiratory simulation platform with controllable airway obstruction was built to collect the corresponding respiratory waveforms under different airway obstruction.Waveform features were extracted, the coefficient of variation, correlation coefficient and rms error were calculated, and the fitting relationship curve between the airway obstruction and the respiratory waveform features was established based on the least square method. Results The rising peak, ascending gradient and falling peak of the flow rate waveform in pressure-controlled ventilation mode and volume-controlled ventilation mode were strongly correlated with the airway obstruction, and the correlation could be described by quadrics. Conclusion The quantitative description of the relationship between airway obstruction and respiratory waveform characteristics verifies the feasibility of real-time visual monitoring of airways, and provides a new idea for artificial airway management.
