Application of 3D Modeling and Printing Technology in the Research and Development of Multi-Parameter Breathing Training Device
Objective To study the application of 3D modeling and printing technology in the commercialization process of medical device patents, and explore its advantages and limitations. Methods Taking the development of a multi-parameter breathing training device prototype as an example, the 3D model of non-standard parts needed in the research and development was designed by using 3D modeling technology, and printed by 3D printer. The size deviation of the printed object was analyzed. The printed non-standard parts were tested for strength, and the prototype was assembled and tested for airtightness and performance. Results By utilizing 3D modeling and printing technology,18 non-standard components were designed and manufactured with low development costs and short research and development cycles. The printed non-standard components had high accuracy and met assembly requirements. After testing, the strength of the printed non-standard components and the airtightness of the assembled physical prototype met the requirements for safe use.The prototype ran smoothly and software functions could be achieved. Conclusion 3D modeling and printing technology can effectively reduce the research and development costs and shorten the research and development cycle of the principle prototype production for patent conversion, but there is still room for further improvement in printing time, quality, and other aspects.
