Research on Technological Innovation Status of Digital Therapeutics Based on Invention Patents Analysis
Objective To reveal the technological innovation trends through analysis of invention patents in the field of digital therapeutics.Methods Based on the invention patents included in the Patsnap patent databases,this study uncovered the technological innovation situation of the global and Chinese digital therapeutics fields from the perspectives of time trends,technological innovation hotspots,technological innovation region,technological innovation entities,and technological inventors,etc.Results There were 422 invention patent families(921 patent applications)in the global digital therapeutics field,which entered a period of rapid growth after 2010.China started a little later,with a total of 44 invention patent families(56 patent applications),and it has developed rapidly after 2021.Global technological innovation focuses on personalized medicine,treatment plan optimization,remote monitoring and medical treatment,digital mental health and other directions.China's technological innovation has some similarities with the global ones,but also has its own unique characteristics.It pays more attention to digital medical records and health management system,and digital traditional Chinese medicine.The United States is the most active in this field,and South Korea and China are also actively carrying out technological innovation.The main entities leading technological innovation at home and abroad are enterprises.Conclusion Both the world and China have accumulated a certain scale of technological innovation achievements in the field of digital therapeutics,and technological innovation continues to be active.This study conducts a comprehensive analysis of invention patents in the field of digital therapeutics,reveals the technological innovation situation from a macro perspective,to better understand the technological evolution,innovation trends and key technical directions,and provide comprehensive information support for the development of digital therapeutics field from the perspective of information science.
