The interaction between literary texts and visual art in Virginia Woolf's The Waves unfolds at both macro and micro levels of the novel. At the macro level, the interaction between literary texts and visual art occurs between the novel characters and the author, specifically focusing on the literary paradigms and artistic techniques used in the process of plot development. The visual image design, the use of painting techniques, and the use of graphic markers reflect the micro level of interaction. In addition, the novel pays attention to the color, light and shadow effect of Impressionistic art, which not only creates the additional meaning of literature, but also constructs the symbolic meaning. As a result, the author not only uses the advantages of Impressionistic aesthetic discourse, but also uses the painting theme conveyed through language to achieve the semantic relationship between macro and micro levels. At the same time, the novel adopts Impressionistic portrait and landscape style on the genre level, highlighting the dominant characteristics of the interaction between literary text and visual art.In the portrait and landscape, the author uses a large number of graphic markers, such as canvas, strokes and colors, which not only helps the readers understand the art world outside literature, but also becomes the text material for in-depth investigation of literary themes.
