"Place"is a pivotal element in the American Indian native cosmology and colonial history, and thus becomes a recurrent theme in Linda Hogan's writing. This paper focuses on the literary representation of place in her fiction and figures ou three decolonized modes:restoring people's inherent connection to place and sense of origin through mythic reterritorialization, identifying with the collective memory of place and reconfiguring the sense of community through psychic reterritorialization, and retrieving the local culture and tribal traditions through cultural reterritorialization. In brief, this imaginative and nostalgic reconstruction of place enables the author to complete the decolonizing process and reshape indigenous people's geographical, ethnic and cultural identities.
