In Li Sao(《离骚》),Qu Yuan mentioned several times that he would rather drown himself in water in order to uphold his ideal and noble personality.Two of them clearly indicated that he wanted to follow the example of Peng Xian who committed suicide by throwing himself into the water.It was controversial whether"I wish to follow Peng Xian's idea",but"I will take the same path as Peng Xian"was clear.Another time although did not mention Peng Xian,but that"Rather die in exile,"the ambition,was also clearly expressed to commit suicide by throwing himself into the water.In addition,"Submerged in clear water to die for probity"can also be understood as"Water suicide"solution.Li Sao is consistent with most of his poems written in the year before his suicide in the aspects of ideology,cognition of life value,expression of emotion,attitude and way of thinking about death,but there is no mention of Peng Xian in the book of Chou Si(《抽思》),which explicitly mentions"A bird comes from the south and gathers in Hanbei."or in the book Ai Ying(the Lament for Ying《哀郢》)and She Jiang(《涉江》),which are later than Chou Si,therefore,it can be concluded that Li Sao was not written during Qu Yuan's exile in Hanbei,but in his later years.
