The Crisis of Natural Law and Its Solution—An Examination Based on Locke Educational Thought
As one of the basic issues of modern political philosophy, the theory of modern natural law is the basic principle for the establishment of modern political philosophy, and provides the basic framework for the construction of modern political society. However, this theory itself has defects.Without a transcendent existence as a reference point, natural law cannot integrate the indicative dimension of reason and the normative dimension of will, therefore it cannot have the binding force of reality, which forms the crisis of modern natural law theory.Locke placed the hope of solving this crisis on education, emphasizing that through gentleman education, people in the state of nature can be transformed into people in political society, and rules derived from reason can be internalized into laws at the level of individual will,so that people can become the real owners of natural rights.Education in this sense is the education that lays the foundation for politics, which obviously reflects the political dimension of education.
