The chemical constituents of the 95%ethanol extract from Cynodon dactylon(L.)Pers.were studied using silica gel,open ODS,Sephadex LH-20,and semi preparative HPLC column chromatography.The anti-inflammatory activities of isolated flavonoids and anthraquinones were studied.Sixteen compounds were isolated from bermudagrass and identified as tricin(1),chrysoeriol(2),isoliquiritigenin(3),tricin4′-O-(threo-β-guaiacyl-(7″-O-methyl-9″-O-acetyl)-glyceryl)ether(4),luteolin(5),tricin 4′-O-(erythro-β-guaiacylglyceryl)ether(6),calquiquelignan D(7),calquiquelignan E(8),5,5′-dihydroxy-2′,4′-dim-ethoxyflavone-7-O-β-D-(6″-O-Z-p-coumaroyl)-glucopyranoside(9),4′-hydroxy-2,3-dihydroflavone-7-β-D-glucopyranoside(10),tricin 4′-O-(threo-β-guaiacyl-(7″-O-methyl)-glyceryl)ether(11),ω-Hydroxyemodin(12),phomarin(13),aurantio-obtusin(14),β-sitosterol(15)and stigmasterol(16).Compounds 1,2,3,4,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15 and 16 were isolated from this plant for the first time.Compounds 2,3 and 14 showed significant anti-inflammatory activity,with IC50 values of 2.74,2.35 μmol/L and 3.61 μmol/L.
