DETERMINATION OF MAJOR AND MINOR ELEMENTS IN QUARTZ SANDSTONE BY X-RAY FLUORESCENCE SPECTROMETRY
X-ray fluorescence spectrometry was used to determine SiO2,Al2O3 and Fe2O3contents in quartz sandstone with anhydrous lithium tetraborate as flux, ammonium nitrate as oxidant, and potassium iodide as release agent. The samples were melted on a high-frequency melting prototype at 1050 ℃ to produce glass sheets. An analytical method for determining the content of SiO2,Al2O3 and Fe2O3 in quartz sandstone using XRF was established,by usingstandard curves for correcting spectral line overlap interference and matrix effect. The results are accurate, reliable, efficient, and cost-effective,verified by comparison with standard samples and different methods.
