OVERVIEW OF GEOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND MINERAL RESOURCE DISTRIBUTION IN CAMBODIA
Cambodia is located at the intersection of the Tethyan metallogenic district and the Pacific Rim metallogenic district.Seventeen mineral species have been discovered,among which gold,iron,gemstones,as well as molybdenum and tin polymetallic deposits are the four dominant mineral resources.The region was divided into two main geotectonic units by the Donglisahu Fault,with major faults oriented in NW,NS,NE,and EW directions.Magmatic activities weremainly distributed along near EW and NW directions.There is a nearly NWtrending Lifu-Huafuli-Bosozhu-Luowen gold,iron,and copper metallogenic belt distributedin the northern part of the area,aNE trendingPandela-Senmonolongjin gold polymetallic metallogenic belt distributed in the central and eastern parts,and aNW trending Nanhe-Shajiao-Gongbu gold and iron polymetallic metallogenic belt in the south.The mining industry has great potential for development.
