STUDY ON HEAVY METAL POLLUTION IN SOIL AND CORN ALONG BOTH SIDES OF THE KUNMING-MOHANEXPRESSWAY FROM K5 TO K29
Based on a field survey and sampling of farmland soil and corn along both sides of the Kunming-MohanExpressway from K5 to K29,the contents of Pb,Cd,and Cu in the soil and corn were analyzed. The comprehensive pollution index method was used to evaluate the heavy metal pollution status in corn and soil. The results show that the Pb content in the soil and corn gradually decreaseswith increasing distance from both sides of the highway, indicating that Pb in the soil is primarily originated from automobile exhaust emissions. Thus,it is recommended to plant corn at least 50 meters away from the highway. The Cd content in corn is very low and unaffected by the proximity to the highway. The Cu pollution in the soil is severe, but corn has not been contaminated with Cu,suggesting that Cu in the soil has not migrated to the edible parts of corn.
