GEOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND ORE-CONTROLLING FACTORS OF TUFF TYPE SCANDIUM DEPOSIT IN SOUTHEAST YUNNAN
The volcanic rocks in the southwest section of the Shizong-Mile tectonic belt in southeastern Yunnan are mainly composed of basalt,almond-shaped basalt and basaltic andesite, interspersed with a small amount of peridotite, volcanic breccia, and tuff.Scandium deposits mainly occur in the purple tuff of the eruption cycle sedimentary interface of the Emeishan basalt formation, and arelayered or quasi layered, obviously controlled by the stratigraphic layers.Preliminary analysis of the geological characteristics and ore controlling factors of scandium deposits in the area shows that the mineralization type is volcanic clastic sedimentary type.Based on primary selection and metallurgical experiments, the tuff type scandium deposits show good comprehensive utilization prospects.
