Sewage treatment plants produce a large amount of sludge with complex composition,which will cause harm to the environment if not properly treated.Dewatering is a key step in sludge treatment and disposal.Several chemical pre treatment methods,including acid/alkali pre-treatment,ozone pretreatment,Fenton pretreatment,persulfate pretreatment,permanganate pretreatment and ferrate pretreatment,were reviewed in this paper.The influence of different pretreatment methods on sludge dehydrating performance was discussed.
