Preparation of Acetic Acid Activated Walnut Shell Carbon for Phenol Adsorption
In order to eliminate the harm of phenolic pollutants to water,a method of preparing walnut shell carbon adsorbent with acetic acid modified walnut shell was used. The factors affecting the adsorption performance of the prepared walnut shell carbon for phenol, including the dosage, phenol concentration, initial solution pH value, and adsorption temperature, were studied. The phase structure of the prepared walnut shell carbon was characterized by infrared(FTIR),X-ray diffraction(XRD),and scanning electron microscopy(SEM).The results showed that when the HAc was used as an activator and concentration is 5%,calcination temperature of 400℃,and 2 h had the optimal performance in ad-sorbing phenol. The adsorbent material has a graphite disordered layer structure and a rich surface pore structure. When the amount of walnut shell charcoal is 0.2 g,the initial concentration of phenol is 10 mg/L,and the reaction is 30 min,the phenol adsorption rate is 92.4%.The ad-sorption process of walnut shell charcoal for phenol conforms to a pseudo second order kinetic model, indicating that the prepared acetic acid modified walnut shell charcoal has superior adsorption performance for phenol, achieving the effect of waste treatment and pollution control,ad-sorption performance for phenol wastewater.
