This paper reviews the activation methods and mechanisms of persulfate in sludge treatment,including thermal activation,UV activa-tion,ultrasonic activation,and transition metal activation.The advantages and limitations of each activation method in sludge treatment and dis-posal are analyzed in detail.Additionally,the effectiveness of persulfate-based systems in various sludge treatment scenarios is discussed.The paper also examines the removal mechanisms and effects of persulfate on heavy metals and other pollutants in sludge.Furthermore,an analysis of the application prospects and existing challenges of persulfate-based technologies in sludge treatment is presented.
