The impact of green finance on China's carbon emissions:an empirical test based on provincial panel data
At present,China's economic transformation is urgent, and green finance has attracted wide attention. In the context of"double carbon",how to reduce carbon emissions and develop green finance is an important issue re-lated to the future development of the country. This paper selects the panel data of 30 provinces in China from 2011 to 2021,measures the comprehensive development level of green finance from four dimensions, such as green cred-it,green investment, green bonds and green insurance, and empirically tests the impact of green finance on carbon emissions by using a two-way fixed effect model. The results show that the four dimensions of green finance have a significant negative impact on carbon emissions, indicating that the development of green finance has a mitigation effect on low-carbon development. The degree of influence of green finance on carbon emission is regional hetero-geneity.The central region has the largest effect on carbon emission reduction, followed by the western region and the eastern region. From the perspective of intermediary effect test, green finance still has a significant negative im-pact on carbon emissions through the intermediary role of green technology innovation, which indicates that green fi-nance can reduce carbon emissions through green technology innovation.
