Effects of Mowing on the Remediation of Soil Cadmium Pollution by Bidens Pilosa L.
To explore the effect of different mowing methods on the remediation of cadmium(Cd)con-taminated soil by Bidens pilosa L..A complete growing season of Bidens pilosa L.was compared for the effects of five different treatments on plant growth, biomass, and Cd accumulation capacity. The treatments included continuous planting(CK),replanting(X1),mowing old leaves(X2),mowing 30 cm from the root(X3),and mowing the top buds(X4).Compared to the CK,the X1 treatment signifi-cantly reduced the plant height, stem diameter, number of lateral shoots, and average growth rate of Bidens pilosa L.(P<0.05);the X3 treatment significantly increased the regrowth rate and average growth rate by 34.88%and 16.16%(P<0.05);the X3 and X4 treatments significantly increased the plant height, number of lateral shoots, and biomass(P<0.05),with the aboveground biomass in-creasing by 62.16%and 58.11%respectively;the aboveground Cd accumulation in the X3 and X4 treatments significantly increased by 93.25%and 77.64%(P<0.05),and the enrichment factor in the X3 treatment reached the maximum value of 2.61.Mowing 30 cm from the root has the best effect on enhancing Bidens pilosa L.'s extraction of Cd from the soil.
