The Effect of pH on the Activity of Key Enzymes and Methane Production Flux in EAD
To investigate the effect of pH on the activity of key enzymes and methane production meta-bolic flux in electrochemical anaerobic digestion(EAD)systems, changes in key products(CH4,CO2,and H2,etc.)and enzyme activity of EAD before and after pH adjustment were studied through meta-bolic flux analysis and redundancy analysis. The results showed that enzymes related to acid produc-tion were directly affected when pH changed.Among them,PTA,AK,PTB,BK,DH,ADH,and LDH enzyme activities were higher than those in the control group. This is because adjusting pH,especially lowering pH,can disrupt the stable state of the EAD system, leading to a large accumulation of volatile fatty acids. The key enzyme activity in methane production flux is relatively low, resulting in the mini-mum methane production flux. When pH is disturbed at 7.5,the optimal methane production metabol-ic flux is exhibited.
