Application of Aerogel Coating in Hydropower Engineering
In winter, due to the lower temperature of concrete, the hydration reaction of cement in concrete slows down or even stops, resulting in a slow or direct increase in concrete strength. When the external temperature drops to 0℃,the water in the concrete begins to freeze, gradually changing from water to ice.At this time, the hydration of cement slows down, and the growth of concrete strength correspondingly slows down. When the temperature continues to decrease, the water in the concrete completely turns into ice,and the hydration of cement in the concrete stops. At this point, the strength of the concrete will no longer increase, but the parts inside the concrete that are not affected by temperature will continue to undergo hydration. The increase in internal temperature will create a large temperature difference with the temperature affected areas outside the concrete, resulting in cracks. Therefore, the insulation of concrete is particularly important in construction projects.TB Hydropower Station uses aerogel thermal insulation coating to insulate the dam body and maintain the concrete. At the same time,it simplifies the original construction procedures and reduces the damage to the concrete surface.
