India-Japan's"Asia-Africa Growth Corridor":Strategic Origin,Development,Impact Factors and Countermeasures
In response to China's"Belt and Road"initiative,the"Asia-Africa Growth Corridor"plan represents a strategic realignment between India and Japan in the Indo-Pacific region.Under the premise of strengthening bilateral relations, the two nations jointly promote infrastructure development across Asia and Africa, aiming to extend India's strategic reach and Japan's economic touch from South Asia into the Indo-Pacific region.Through infrastructure projects and cooperation in other areas,India and Japan seek to align with the United States'Asia-Pacific policies, creating a strategic encirclement of China.By constructing a shared regional strategy, the two countries not only aim to compete with the"Belt and Road"initiative but also engage collectively in geopolitical contests. However, despite the ongoing progress of this plan,India and Japan face many uncertainties due to differences in strategic perceptions, policies towards Africaand intrinsic issues of the Asia-Africa Growth Corridor plan itself.Against this backdrop,China must maintain strategic composure, strengthen mutually beneficial relations with relevant countries on the basis of promoting high-quality development of the"Belt and Road"and effectively respond to the regional development plans of India and Japan.
