The investigation and study of the heavy metal storage yard of one tailing pond in Yunnan province were carried out,the environmental risks of the copper tailings yard were evaluated comprehensively,it found the existing heavy metal might contain copper,nickel,lead,zinc and the other heavy metals,these heavy metal with high concentration might have potential hazards to environment and ecological system,therefore environment risk management and improvement should be strengthened,it can take an active role in sustainable operation and social responsibility of tailings pond yard.
