Discussion on the Toxicity Evaluation Method of Oilfield Chemicals
The utilization of chemical agents on oilfield operations is integral throughout the entire process of oil and gas exploration and development. However, the environmental impacts and potential toxic effects of these chemicals remain poorly understood. In order to investigate the toxic effects of oilfield chemicals on the environment, this study refers to a wide range of domestic and international standards for ecological toxicity assessment methods. These methods include evaluations based on soil as a medium, evaluations based on water as a medium, and evaluations based on higher animals as carriers.Furthermore, considering the unique properties of oilfield chemicals and the limitations associated with their toxicity assessment, this study compares and draws insights from various evaluation methods. It concludes that microbial assays represent the most promising approach for assessing the toxicity of oilfield chemicals.Additionally, the study proposes several considerations for the ecological toxicity assessment of oilfield chemicals, aiming to provide guidance for the improvement of evaluation methods and systems for assessing the toxicity of oilfield chemicals in the environment.
