Analysis and Discussion on VOCs Leakage Data in the Oil and Gas Industry
The oil and gas industry is a significant source of VOCs(volatile organic compounds)pollution, with equipment and pipeline component leakage being a key emission source of VOCs.Leak Detection and Repair(LDAR)is an essential method for controlling fugitive VOCs emissions. This article selectd a gathering station and a processing station in a specific oilfield as samples and analyzed the types of sealing points, the amount of leakage, and the leakage rates of devices and pipeline components through LDAR detection.By selecting valve and connector types as the leaking sealing points, the bagging-purging method was used to measure the VOCs emission rates of the leaking sealing points.Referring to the accounting coefficients of the petrochemical industry in China, the relevant equation method was applied to calculate the VOCs emission rates of the leaking sealing points. The results show that the calculated VOCs emission rates of the leaking sealing points are higher than the measured results(1.73 to 2.72 times the measured results).Considering the significant differences between the oil and gas industry and the petrochemical industry in terms of industrial structure, process flow, usage of raw and auxiliary materials, and material states,it is recommended to revise the emission coefficients in the relevant equation method to develop an accounting system for VOCs leakage emission rates of equipment and pipeline components that aligns with the actual conditions of the oil and gas industry in China, thereby improving the accuracy of VOCs leakage emission calculations in the oil and gas industry.
