Effect of antimicrobial agent type on the antimicrobial properties of dyed cotton fabrics
Pure cotton fabrics dyed with vat dyes were chosen as the substrate, four antibacterial agents, namely quaternary ammonium salt, organic guanidine, silver chloride and titanium dioxide antibacterial agent were used for antibacterial finishing.Three factors of agent concentration, rolling rate and baking temperature were selected for orthogonal experiment. The antibacterial effect of Escherichia coli was used as the evaluation index to optimize the antibacterial finishing process. The results showed that under the optimized process con-ditions of each antibacterial agent, the effect of organic antibacterial agent finished cotton fabric was better than that of inorganic antibacterial agent.Among them, organic guanidine antibacterial agents had the highest antibacterial rate against Escherichia coli, reaching 99.8%,while titanium dioxide antibacterial agents had lower antibacterial performance than the other three antibacterial agents. After washing 10 times, the antibacterial rate of the fabric treated with quaternary ammonium salt antibacterial agent decreased to 34.1%,while the oth-er two antibacterial agents were around 49.0%.The washing resistance of all agents needs to be improved.
