New Record of Distribution and Litter Size of Eryx miliaris in the Taklimakan Desert
A small and medium-sized snake was discovered and collected for many times on the northern edge of the Taklimakan Desert in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region,during the field practice and project research of zoology from May 2017 to October 2021.This small snake was identified as Eryx miliaris based on two fixed specimens collected in 2017 to 2018 and a female snake collected in 2020.The pregnant snake collected in 2020 gave birth to 16 young snakes.The discovered E.miliaris is a new record for the distribution and litter size in the Taklimakan Desert.The specimens(R-2017-1 and R-2018-1)are preserved in the Zoological Herbarium of College of Life Science and Technology in Tarim Uni-versity.
