Experimental Study of Novel Inhibitors to Achieve Efficient Separation of Copper and Sulfur under Low Alkali Conditions
In order to solve the problems of pipeline blockage and poor pulp environment caused adding a large amount of lime in the process of copper sulfide flotation separation,a new pyrite inhibitor BY was developed and applied to the flotation test of a copper sulfide ore in Myanmar. The ore contains 1.4%copper and 8.95%sulfur,the main copper mineral is chalcopyrite, and the sulfur minerals are mainly pyrite and pyrrhotite.A copper concentrate with Cu grade of 25.13%and recovery of 93.47%,S grade of 33.97%and recovery of 19.93%were obtained by a flotation process of one roughing, two cleanings and one scavenging with the inhibitor BY.Compared with lime, the copper grade and recovery in the concentrate are increased by 0.99 and 0.16 percentage points respectively, and the sulfur grade and recovery are reduced by 1.01 and 2.14 percentage points respectively. The pulp pH value of the roughing flotation in locked-cycle test can be reduced from 12 to 9.7,realizing a efficient separation of copper and sulfur in low alkali environment.
