Homogenization of 6061 Aluminum Alloy and Evolution of AlMnFeSi Phase
The changes of hardness and the evolution of AlMnFeSi phase in 6061 aluminum alloy during homogenization at 540,560 and 580 ℃ were studied by OM,SEM,EDS and XRD.The results show that the second phase cannot fully dissolve into the matrix when the homogenization temperature is lower than 540 ℃,and overburning occurs when the homogenization temperature is higher than 580 ℃.The best homogenization effect of 6061 aluminum alloy can be obtained after homogenization treatment at 560 ℃ for 9 h.In addition, the coarse rod-like β-AlMnFeSi phase gradually transforms into dispersing α-AlMnFeSi phase during homogenization. The statistical variation of the area fraction of the second phase with temperature and time shows that the transition rate of β-AlMnFeSi to α-AlMnFeSi phase is high, but it slows down gradually in the middle and late homogenization, and the temperature increase is beneficial to accelerate the transition.
