Effect of V Content on Microstructure and Properties of Automotive Collision Materials
In this paper,by means of optical microscope, scanning electron microscope(SEM),energy dispersive spectrometer(EDS)and electronic universal testing machine, the effects of V content on the structure, mechanics, bending and intergranular corrosion of automobile anti-collision beam profiles are studied. The experimental results show that as the V content increases, the grain size first decreases and then increases, with a minimum at 0.15%V.Mechanical performance tests show that the yield strength and work hardening index n values increase most significantly at 0.15%V.After natural aging,0.15%V alloy has the best stability; After artificial aging, its strength increases the most, and it has good formability and aging strengthening properties. The bending angle increases with the increase of V content, with the maximum value at 0.15%V and the minimum difference between TD and RD angles. All four alloys exhibit intergranular corrosion, and changes in V content have little effect on corrosion resistance. But when the V content reaches 0.20%,the bending angle decreases, attributed to the formation of Al11 V phase.
