Dynamic Mechanical Properties and Adiabatic Shear Behavior of TC21 Alloy
In this paper,the dynamic compression experiment of TC21 titanium alloy is carried out by using the separated Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar.The dynamic mechanical properties of TC21 titanium alloy are analyzed and the microstructure after dynamic compression is observed.The evolution of adiabatic shear band(ASB)is studied with emphasis.The results show that:In the process of dynamic compression of TC21 titanium alloy,with the increase of strain rate,the plastic deformation stage can absorb more energy,and microvoids and microcracks formed and expanded along the ASB,finally formed cracks,resulting in shear failure.The deformation process of TC21 titanium alloy during dynamic compression is mainly in the form of sliding,so the whole phenomenon of hardening is displayed in the true stress-true strain curve.The ASB of TC21 titanium alloy shows an obvious white bright band on the macro level,and has an obvious linear structure on the micro level.
