Design of Flood Drainage System for Terrain with Branch Gully Development in Tailings Pond
A development of branch gullies occurred inside an iron mine tailings pond, with the right bank branch gully being close to the initial dam, situated within the dam pile area, and separated from the main gully by a mountain ridge. In order to safely discharge floodwater from the pond and ensure the tailings water is clari-fied,a flood discharge system was put in place separately in the main gully and the right bank branch gully,in accordance with the site's topographic and geological conditions.Initially,a drainage chute-pipe system was used inside the right bank branch gully, and subsequently,a temporary drainage ditch was constructed along the ridge.Within the main gully,a drainage well-pipe system was used.Currently, the water quality at the tailings pond's flood discharge outlet is clear, and the system is operating normally.
