Exploration and Practice on Extending the Operating Cycle of the Leaching Unit Under High Carbon Alkali Concentration
The carbon alkali in alumina production is considered as ineffective alkali, which accumulates in the process for a long time and increases the energy consumption per unit product. When the carbon alkali reaches the equilibrium concentration,it will precipitate as a solid. If the carbon alkali concentration is too high,it will have adverse effects on multiple processes such as dissolu-tion,sedimentation,and evaporation, affecting the passage of materials, the improvement of equipment thermal efficiency, and the optimization of process indicators. In severe cases, the dissolution E system may even be blocked and forced to stop, bringing sig-nificant difficulties to normal production organization and regulation. This article mainly focuses on the reasons and hazards of the increase in carbon alkali concentration in the Bayer process alumina production system.Combining with production practice,spe-cific measures are proposed through research and analysis to maintain stable operation under high carbon alkali concentration,reduc-ing unplanned parking accidents caused by the formation of crystals on the system pipeline wall due to high carbon alkali concentra-tion,resulting in poor material flow.
