Technology and Practice of Oil Removal from Hydrometallurgical Copper Strong Electrolyte in Democratic Republic of Congo
In response to the fact that the strong electrolyte after back extraction usually contains organic phases, which will affect the quality of the cathode plate during the electrowinning process if it is not properly handled. This paper analyzes the mechanism of strong electrolyte oil removal and common strong electrolyte purification and oil removal technology.Taking the practice of strong electrolyte oil removal technology for a copper-cobalt hydrometallurgical mine operation in DRC as an example, the paper focuses on the research of ultrasonic-air flotation oil removal unit and agglomerated purification and oil removal technology. The enterprise has upgraded its original oil removal system to one ultrasonic-air flotation oil removal unit with a processing capacity of 450 m3/h and one agglomerated oil removal unit with a processing capacity of 180 m3/h.After the upgrading, the practice shows that both oil removal methods have good oil removal effect.
