Objective To evaluate the effect of psychomotor therapy on depression in stable schizophrenia patients. Methods A randomized controlled trial design was used.A total of 68 inpatients with stable schizophrenia were randomly divided into observation group(34 cases)and control group(34 cases). The control group received routine treatment, while the observation group underwent psychomotor therapy on the basis of the treatment of the control group. The treatment cycle was 16 weeks.Depression symptoms of the patients were evaluated using the Self-Rating Depression Scale(SDS)and the Calgary Depression Scale for Schizophrenia(CDSS)before and after treatment(Week 0 and Week 16).Results After 16 weeks of treatment,SDS and CDSS scores of the observation group were significantly lower than those of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Psychomotor therapy can significantly improve the depression of inpatients with stable schizophrenia. The combined use of SDS and CDSS has important value in evaluating the therapeutic effect. This finding provides empirical support for the introduction of psychomotor therapy in the rehabilitation of schizophrenia patients.
