Slope stability of open-pit coal mines under the influence of goaf
To investigate the impact of goaf on the slope stability in an open-pit coal mine in Inner Mongolia, numerical simulations were conducted to analyze the displacement variation of slopes during excavation under dif-ferent goaf conditions. The results show that both the position and size of the goaf have a certain influence on the slope stability, with a greater impact observed when the goaf is closer to the slope toe and has a larger span. The influence of the goaf on the slope has a certain range, with smaller effects observed when the goaf is farther away from the slope.During the influence of the goaf, the center of maximum horizontal displacement of the slope consistently locates at the upper front edge of the slope, indicating that the protection of coal pillars and upper coal seams from the influence of the goaf is relatively minimal. It is recommended to determine the distribution of the goaf during the mining process, and slopes should be avoided from being directly affected by the mining subsidence area as much as possible to ensure safety.
