Analysis of U.S.Pacific Island Policy from the Perspective of the"Indo-Pacific Strategy"
The introduction and comprehensive strengthening of the United States"Indo-Pacific Strategy"have seen a continuous elevation of strategic value of the Pacific island countries. The United States with a more complete policy system has systematically strengthened its competition for the Pacific island countries in many fields, including security, economy and ideology. In the context of the returning great power competition, the rise of China's presence and influence in the Pacific Islands region has triggered the strategic anxiety of the Western developed countries led by the United States.Meanwhile, the United States is also treating the Pacific Islands as a key area for the promotion of the"Indo-Pacific Strategy"and strategic competition with China. However, the United States Pacific island policy, which is dominated by the strategic goal of"out-competing with"China and hegemony maintenance, disregards the core concerns over peace and stability, development and prosperity, and the response on climate change of this region. The limits of U.S.Pacific Island policy also continue to emerge while it leads to a rising risk of regional camping, great power competition and ideologization in the Pacific Islands.
