Study of the Impact of OFDI on Global Supply Chain Risks in the Chinese Manufacturing Sector

在"逆全球化"因素扰动下,中国面临的全球供应链风险加剧,如何更好维护中国制造业全球供应链安全成为重要议题.文章构建了 2003-2021年中国18个制造业细分行业的全球供应链风险指数,并基于中间品贸易的视角探究中国制造业OFDI对其全球供应链风险的影响.研究发现:OFDI在畅通贸易渠道、促进母国产业技术升级的同时,降低了中国中间品进出口的对外依赖程度,提升了对国际市场依赖的多元化程度,进而有助于降低中国制造业的全球供应链风险.其中,中低技术制造业、低流动性制造业以及OFDI流向欠发达地区对防范全球供应链风险的作用更明显.
Abstract
Under the disturbance of"anti-globalization"factors,China is facing intensified risks of global supply chain,and how to better maintain the security of the global supply chain of China's manufacturing industry has become an important issue.In this paper,we construct a global supply chain risk index for 18 manufacturing sub-sectors in China from 2003 to 2021 and explore the impact of OFDI in China's manufacturing sector on its global supply chain risk from the point of view of intermediate goods trade.The results show that OFDI not only unblocks trade channels and promotes the industrial technology upgrading of the home country,but also reduces the external dependence of China's import and export of intermediate goods and enhances the diversification of dependence on the international market,which helps to reduce the global supply chain risk of China's manufacturing industry.Among them,medium-and low-tech manufacturing industries,low-liquidity manufacturing industry and OFDI flows to less developed re-gions have played a more visible role in preventing global supply chain risks.
