The Indian Critical Minerals Strategy and Its Impact on China
Critical minerals, essential in chips,semi-conductors,electric vehicles, solar panels and other high-tech products, have become the last frontier of great power competition, which shows the trends that the competing species overlap,geo-politics interferes with it,international capital fights more fiercely and resource protectionism is rising. The Indian government has increasingly realized the significance and rareness of critical minerals and first upgraded its policy of critical minerals to a national strategy. The critical minerals strategy attaches great importance to risk prevention and control in the supply chain, which seeks to achieve the diversification, localization and decoupling from China of minerals supply, while facing several challenges in the future. The fact that India established international strategic alliance on critical minerals with the United States,Japan,Australia and so on intensifies the international competition on critical minerals and fuels the strategic suspicion towards China.
