New Exploration of Wang Chong's Thought of Proficiency in Confucian Classics and Its Application
In the past,the academic circles mostly used"criticism of falsehood"or"seeking the truth from facts and criticizing the falsehood",and"criticism of falsehood and return to the truth"to summarize the characteristics of Wang Chong's thought.They greatly appreciated his spirit of daring to criticize the fallacies in the classics or the old theories of his predecessors,but relatively ignored the tone of proficiency in Confucian classics and its application in Wang Chong's ideological doctrine.In fact,proficiency in Confucian classics and its application could be called a major feature of Wang Chong's thought,showing the intersection of Wuyue Real Learning and Central Plains Confucianism in Wang Chong.He used the value rationality of Confucianism to dominate Wuyue Real Learning,and tested Central Plains Confucianism with the matter-of-fact attitude of Real Learning,pursuing their unity.Behind proficiency in Confucian classics and its application,and seeking the truth from facts and criticizing the falsehood,was Wang Chong's effort to govern and benefit the people.
