Realism and Suspense Narrative in the Dramatic Structure:A Case Study of the Web Drama"The Long Season"
Suspense dramas have been popular in recent years.Among them,web drama The Long Sea-son broadcast in 2023 takes three slots of 1997,1998,and 2016 as narrative clues,and uses typical symbols to express the changes of the times and the face of human nature,including the social change,change of pow-er relations,and women's"second sex"status,etc.in the reform of state-owned enterprises in the late 1990s,which reflects the distinct characteristics of realism.Under the"overall suspense"of searching for a fake-plate taxi,the drama expresses sub-suspense through time and space transitions,and audio-visual means such as music and sound,strengthening the feeling of horror,terror and weirdness,and mobilizing the audience's thinking and reasoning abilities.For this purpose,the drama designs a dramatic structure,makes realism and suspense well integrated,expands the"one person,one thing"structure of the dramatic narrative,and thus has a larger information space through the clue of looking for the fake-plate taxi that runs through the drama.The drama appropriately uses Northeastern dialect to enhance the sense of reality and bal-ance the horror sense of suspense,employs colors to echo the theme of the drama and enriches the perceptual elements of the narrative,and provides an excellent example for the suspense drama to express ideas and at-tract the audience.
