Study of Translation Methods for Cultural Imagery of Shandong's Distinguished Intangible Cultural Heritage
The international dissemination of Shandong's intangible cultural heritage is one of the crucial pathways for promoting its outstanding traditional culture to the world. However, the differences and uniqueness among cultures result in imperfect equivalence in cultural imagery, thereby increasing translation difficulty and affecting translation outcomes.Cognitive Frame Theory emphasizes the decisive role of cognitive frameworks in understanding and expressing cultural imagery, and advocates transforming or reconstructing the cultural cognitive framework in the target language to achieve accurate transmission of the cultural imagery of source language, which provides a significant guidance for addressing this issue. In practice,we can employ such methods as combining literal and free translation with appropriate cultural compensation, borrowing cul-tural equivalents from the target language, creatively transforming cultural imagery, using metaphors and anal-ogies to effectively convey the cultural connotations of the imagery of source language, thereby enhancing the translation quality and its dissemination effectiveness.
