Clinical effect of Er∶YAG laser assisted direct pulp capping and fragment reattachment in the treatment of permanent anterior teeth with complicated crown fracture
AIM:To observe the efficacy of Er∶YAG laser-assisted direct pulp capping and crown frag-ment reattachment in the treatment of complicated crown fracture in anterior permanent teeth, and provide a clinical ref-erence for the minimally invasive laser treatment of complicated crown fracture in traumatized teeth.METHODS:Thir-ty two traumatized anterior permanent teeth with complicated crown fracture from twenty five patients were selected in the present study, then treated by Er∶YAG laser-assisted direct pulp capping and crown fragment reattachment, and reviewed at 1,3,6 and 12 months after the treatment. The clinical efficacy was observed and evaluated based on the criteria of clinical examination, imaging examination and satisfaction scores.RESULTS:After 12 months, only 10%of the teeth showed sensitive. The success rates of the integrity, stability and marginal closeness of the reattached frag-ments were 90%.Additionally,abnormal apical development or periapical lesions were observed in only 10%of the treated teeth. Moreover, the patients showed well satisfaction with the aesthetics, comfort, mastication and retention of the treated teeth.CONCLUSION:Er∶YAG laser is effective in assisting direct pulp capping and crown fragment reat-tachment in the treatment of anterior permanent teeth with complicated crown fracture. The method used in this study could be utilized as within a clinical minimally invasive treatment option for the complicated crown fracture.
