Effects of different kinds of all-porcelain crowns on the levels of IL-1β and MMP-8 in gingival cevicular fluid
AIM:To compare the difference of levels of interleukin(IL)-1β and matrix metalloproteinase(MMP)-8 in gingival crevicular fluid before and after lithium disilsilicate reinforced glass ceramic crown(castable ceramic crown)and zirconia all-ceramic crown(zirconia crown)restoration.METHODS:A total of 30 teeth from 24 patients with crown restoration were selected as the study objects, and were divided into castable ceramic crown group and zirconia crown group according to materials, with 15 teeth in each group. At 1,3 and 6 months after restoration, periodontal probing depth of the two groups of restored teeth and the opposite natural teeth with the same name were measured, gingival crevicu-lar fluid was collected to detect concentrations of IL-1β and MMP-8 in gingival crevicular fluid by enzyme-linked immu-noreaction method, then statistical analysis was performed.RESULTS:There was no statistic difference in periodontal probing depth and levels of MMP-8 in gingival crevicular fluid between castable ceramic crown and zirconia crown group before and after restoration(P>0.05).There was no significant change of IL-1β in gingival crevicular fluid before and after restoration in zirconia crown group(P>0.05).In castable ceramic crown, the expression of IL-1β was the highest at 3 months, which was significantly higher than that at 1 month after repair(P<0.05).The IL-1β content in gingival crevicular fluid of the castable ceramic crown group was significantly higher than that of the zirconia crown group at 3 and 6 months after restoration(P<0.05).CONCLUSION:There is no significant change of biomarkers in gingival cevicular fluid after zirconia all-ceramic crown restoration.lithium disilsilicate reinforced glass ceramic crown has more effect on periodontal tissue than zirconia crown restoration.
