Imaging study in subjects with delayed tooth development
AIM:The incidence and clinical characteristics of delayed tooth development were investigated by performing panoramic radiographs.METHODS:A total of 22 338 panoramic radiograph of subjects aged 5 to 14 years were collected from January 2022 to June 2023,and the incidence of delayed tooth development was observed, and other dental abnormalities was recorded.SPSS 24.0 software was used for statistical analysis.RESULTS:The incidence of delayed tooth development was 1.37%(306/22 338).There was no significant difference between genders, left and right jaws, maxillary and mandibular(P>0.05).There were more unilateral subjects than bilateral, and more subjects in congenital absence than no absence group, and the difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P=0.000).1 and 2 de-layed tooth development accounted for 96.41%(295/306)of our subjects. The mandibular second premolar was the fre-quently delayed tooth, followed by the maxillary lateral incisor and the maxillary second premolar.CONCLUSION:De-layed tooth development is common in clinic, most of which are 1~2,and unilateral.Delayed tooth development in congen-ital absence is significantly more than normal group. Most delayed teeth are the second premolar and maxillary lateral inci-sor.It is recommended to check regularly and pay close attention to tooth embryo development for children with delayed tooth.
