Analysis of clinical effect of root canal brush on removal of disinfection drug from root canal
AIM:To provide a reference for clinical application by comparing the Gentlefile root canal brush and ultrasound therapy instrument for paste removal in root canal disinfection.METHODS:The 120 resin root canal modules were prepared to 30#04 taper with M3 nickel-titanium file,and full filled with the Vitapex paste and calcium hydroxide which were commonly used for root canal disinfection.Then the resin root canal modules were divided into 4 groups:vitapex ultrasonic cleaning Group(Vitapex-US),vitapex Gentlefile brush cleaning group(Vitapex-GF),calcium hydroxide paste ultrasonic cleaning group(Ca(OH)2-US)and Calcium hydroxide paste Gentlefile brush cleaning group(Ca(OH)2-GF).The ultrasonic cleaning groups placed the ultrasonic cleaning tip 3 mm away from the apical foramen for 2 minutes,and then rinsed with 10 mL flushing solution.The Gentlefile brush cleaning groups also placed the brush 3 mm away from the apical foramen,cleaned the root canal for 2 minutes,then washed the root canal with 10 mL flushing solution.All of these were done by a doctor and then the periapical film was taken.By measuring the length of residual antiseptic paste in the lower end of root canal and the number of residual drugs in the lateral wall of root canals,the removal effect of the two methods on root canal disinfection paste was compared.RESULTS:Both methods could not completely remove the disinfection paste at the lower end of the root canal,Gentlefile brush has a better cleaning effect on root canal filled with Vitapex,and the length of residual disinfection drugs at the lower end of the root canal and the number of residual amount on the side wall of the root canal were less than those in the ultrasonic cleaning group(P＜0.05),the difference was statistically significant.There was no statistical difference between the two methods for calcium hydroxide paste in the root canal.The calcium hydroxide paste was easier to clean than vitapex paste(P＜0.05),and the difference was statistically significant.CONCLUSION:As for vitapex paste,Gentlefile brush has a better cleaning effect as compared with the ultrasound.The calcium hydroxide paste is easier to clear than vitapex.
