Clinical treatment strategies for defective direct composite resin restorations
Over the past fifty years,direct adhesive composite resin restoration technology has demonstrated excellent clinical performance.However,the performance of restorations is not permanent,and how to deal with defective composite resin restorations has become an important clinical decision for dentists.Based on the quality assessment standards of restorations,the concept and classification of defective composite resin restorations have been refined,with repair rather than replacement increasingly becoming the preferred method for handling such restorations.This article reviews the current status of composite resin restoration repairs and summarizes treatment plans based on the problems presented by defective composite resin restorations.Furthermore,it discusses the treatment of bonding interfaces in repairing old resins in light of modern technological developments,aiming to provide a clearer decision-making framework and technical treatment approach for the clinical management of defective composite resin restorations.
