Study on polyethylene glycol-based hydrogel for promoting the healing of oral ulcers
AIM:To prepare polyethylene glycol-based hydrogels loaded with dexamethasone acetate and initially explore the efficacy of this system in treating oral ulcers.METHODS:The hydrogels were prepared using aminolysis reaction, and its physical properties were analyzed. The biocompatibility of the hydrogels was evaluated using human gingival fibroblasts through the CCK-8 method and cell viability/death staining. The repair effect of ulcer wounds was evaluated through an in vivo oral ulcer model.RESULTS:The hydrogels exhibited good biosafety, excellent adhesive properties, and mechanical strength both in vitro and in vivo, which could promote the healing of oral ulcer wounds.CONCLUSION:The prepared hydrogels can improve the repair efficacy of oral ulcer wounds and are expected to become a novel material for treating oral ulcers.
