Research progress on the relationship between osteoporosis and apical periodontitis
With the aggravation of population aging in China,the prevalence of osteoporosis and periapical periodontitis has gradually increased.Patients with apical periodontitis and osteoporosis are commonly seen in the clinical work of dentists.Apical periodontitis is a infectious diseases characterized by the destruction of periapical tissue.Osteoporosis accelerates bone resorption in patients with periapical periodontitis,which can have an impact on the development,severity,and prognosis of the disease.By gaining a deeper understanding of the risks involved in treating apical periodontitis in patients with osteoporosis and adjusting treatment plans accordingly,it is expected to improve the success rate of apical periodontitis treatment.This article aims to clarify the impact of osteoporosis and osteoporosis treatment drugs on the course and prognosis of apical periodontitis through literature review,hoping to provide assistance for dentists in treating patients with apical periodontitis complicated with osteoporosis.
