Application of PDCA circulation in improving the training effect of stomatology standardized residency
AIM:To explore the feasibility of applying the PDCA(Plan-Do-Check-Act)cycle in standardized residency training in stomatology, and to establish a PDCA cycle management system for such training.METHODS:110 residents who participated in the standardized training of residents in our hospital from 2015 to 2023 were selected as the research objects, and were divided into two groups according to the time nodes:those who received the traditional teaching management mode from September 2015 to August 2019 were the reference group, and those who received the PDCA cycle teaching management mode from September 2019 to August 2023 were the observation group. The changes of the residents'first completion assessment passing rate, quarterly theoretical assessment results, annual theoretical and operational assessment results, and satisfaction with teaching teachers and training bases before and after establishing a residency training management system using the PDCA cycle method were compared,in order to demonstrate the effectiveness of the established PDCA cycle management system.RESULTS:The overall and theoretical pass rate of the first graduation assessment in the observation group were both 92.50%,achieving the phased goal of first completion assessment pass rate of ≥ 90%;The quarterly theoretical assessment scores of the observation group and the satisfaction of residents with teaching teachers and training bases were higher than those of the reference group(P<0.05).Residents'annual theoretical and practical assessment scores from 2019 to 2022 exhibited a yearly increasing trend.CONCLUSION:It is feasible to establish a PDCA cycle management system and apply it to stomatology standardized residency training based on the national residency training implementation plan and related management systems. Its implementation can not only significantly improve the quality and satisfaction of training, but also promote the improvement of the residency training management system.
