As one of the traditionally famous flowers in China and a world-renowned flower, the camellia has left many scientific and artistic memories in ancient Chinese books, poetry, and paintings in the nearly 2000-year history of cultivation and appli-cation.Based on the previous study of camellias and their gardening in Tang and Song poetry and paintings,we further analyzed the development of camellias in ancient books, poetry, and paintings during the Ming and Qing dynasties to give preference to the better innovation and application of camellias in the future. From the collected ancient books,275 poetries, and some paintings on camellias during the Ming and Qing dynasties,it can be seen that there were over 100 varieties of ca-mellias during the Ming and Qing dynasties, greatly enriching the gardening materials. In terms of garden application,camel-lia had more application and application forms in private gardens and temple gardens, and the prototype of a camellia theme garden has emerged.Regarding planting plants, mei flowers, narcissus, and bamboo were still prevalent in camellia plant design, and more abundant plants such as magnolia, peony, and cypress were planted with camellias.
