Identification and Management of Heritage Values of Lougang Irrigation and Drainage System of Taihu Lake Basin in Huzhou from the Perspective of Cultural Landscape
Located on the southern shore of Taihu Lake,Lougang Irrigation and Drainage System of Taihu Lake Basin in Huzhou is an ex-emplary case of hydraulic engineering and ecological farming practices,fostering the civilization of the Jiangnan water towns,known for its fish and rice as well as silk production.However,from the perspective of traditional cultural heritage protection,the single-disciplinary value interpretation methods and separate-sector conservation systems have not been able to fully recog-nize and sustainably manage the multi-values of Lougang Irrigation and Drainage System of Taihu Lake Basin.Therefore,the study introduces international frontier theories and practical research on identifying rural landscape values from the interaction between nature and culture,identifies the diverse heritage values and attributes of Lougang Irrigation and Drainage System of Taihu Lake Basin,and proposes integrated,dynamic,and collaborative management strategies.
